Hi! I'm Chinky. I am here to share with you what I have learned in my over eight (8) years of experience in the field of mergers and acquisitions and business development.
Having had the experience to manage deals end-to-end and be heavily involved in each key facets - from strategy formulation, origination, due diligence, valuation, co-drafting letters of intent, term sheets and sale and purchase agreements (SPA), seeking Investment Committee approval, to post-deal monitoring - it has strengthened my understanding of how each of these steps impact the deal altogether.
Let me share something with you - my number one specialization is due diligence. It had been my comfort zone for the first few years of my career. But what was missing for me at that time was understanding the full picture because, typically, after we issue a report, that's it. Next thing we know - either the deal closes 'cause we heard it in the news or we just assume that it didn't push through if we didn't hear about it. So, that was when I decided to move away from advisory practice for a bit and step on the clients' shoes, and became part of the in-house strategy teams of huge corporations.
Actually, my motivation as to why I joined Quill Capital Partners as a mentor is because I wanna help other M&A professionals or those who want a change in their career to become one to appreciate the process - help them understand how each piece of the puzzle come together and the value and impact of every task they're doing for their clients or their own organization (in the case of in-house strategy team). Maybe there's someone out there who was like the old me - who just needed guidance to fuel their drive.
